Residential Yard Clearing in Burlington, Ocean & Atlantic County

Most forestry contractors won't take a residential yard job — they're built for multi-acre commercial work. We take them, starting at $300, because we have the right equipment for smaller-scale clearing: a skid steer that fits through a standard gate, a flail mower for a clean finish, and a hand crew for the detail work.

When to choose residential yard clearing

This service exists for a specific gap: most heavy-equipment contractors won’t take residential yard jobs. They’re set up for commercial-scale, multi-acre work and require minimums that don’t fit a back yard. We take residential jobs starting at $300 because we own the right equipment for smaller-scale work and we’d rather help a neighbor than turn the job away.

Common situations we handle:

  • Overgrown back yards behind privacy fences
  • Side yards and easements that have grown wild
  • The areas around outbuildings, sheds, and barns
  • Properties that have sat vacant or unmaintained
  • New homeowners taking over neglected landscaping
  • Pre-sale cleanup to get a property show-ready
  • Buffer zones and brushy strips along property lines

If the job is bigger than a yard — acreage, dense woodland, a building lot — land clearing or forestry mulching is the better fit. If it’s mostly shrubs and hedges, see bushes and shrub removal. When you’re not sure, our brush clearing overview lays out the options.

Our equipment for yard clearing

Residential work rewards the right-sized machine, so we match the tool to the yard. We deploy a skid steer compact enough to get into a back yard through a standard gate, a flail mower for a clean finish on grass and light brush, chainsaws and a hand crew for trees up to 6 inches and the detail work close to fences and structures, and our tracked drum mulcher when heavier brush needs to be ground down. Our smallest equipment fits through a 6-foot gate, which is what makes true backyard access possible where bigger outfits simply can’t reach.

Pricing for yard clearing in South Jersey

Residential yard clearing typically runs $300 to $1,500, depending on:

  • Yard size — a small back yard versus a half-acre side lot
  • Density of overgrowth — tall grass versus dense brush with saplings
  • Access — drive-on versus carry-through-the-gate
  • Disposal preference — mulched and left in place versus hauled away
  • Debris hauling — an added cost if you want the material gone

The $300 floor is the minimum that makes a residential trip worthwhile; most yards land somewhere in the middle of the range. You’ll get a free quote after a quick look at the property, explained plainly.

What we don’t do

Straight talk on scope:

  • We don’t remove mature shade trees — we handle brush and trees up to 6 inches and refer larger trees to a local tree service (see brush and tree removal for how we coordinate)
  • We don’t do landscape design or planting — this is clearing only
  • We don’t work fully fenced yards with no equipment access — we need at least a 6-foot gate or a removable fence section

Yard Clearing — common questions

What's the smallest yard clearing job you'll take?

Residential yard work starts at a $300 minimum. That's the main reason homeowners call us — most forestry outfits require multi-acre minimums and won't touch a back yard or side lot. We're set up for smaller-scale work, so an overgrown yard, an easement, or the area behind a shed is exactly the kind of job we take.

Can you fit through a standard backyard gate?

Usually, yes. Our smallest equipment fits through a 6-foot gate, which covers most residential fences. If access is tighter than that, we bring in the hand crew for the carry-through work. The one thing we can't work around is a fully fenced yard with no gate or removable section — we need at least a 6-foot opening to get equipment in.

Do you haul away the debris?

Your choice. By default we mulch the material and leave it on the ground, which costs less and feeds the soil. If you'd rather have it gone, we can haul it away for an added cost — just tell us up front so we quote it that way.

Do you grind out stumps?

We clear brush and trees up to about 6 inches and grind the material into mulch, but we don't grind stumps out as a standalone service. For a few stumps, a stump-grinder rental is the economical route; for a yard full of them, we'll point you to the right contractor.

How long does residential yard clearing take?

Most residential yards are a half-day to a full day, depending on size and how dense the overgrowth is. A small back yard goes quick; a half-acre side lot grown up in brush and saplings takes longer. We'll give you a realistic window after we've seen it.
